2026 Semester 2 Pauline Epistle: 1 Corinthians

Topic:
1 Corinthians

This course engages deeply with Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians, focusing on accessing its content and developing skills in English New Testament exegesis. Students will examine key introductory issues such as authorship, historical background, structure, and purpose, while working closely through the text to understand its major theological themes—including the word of the cross, Christian leadership, ethics, worship, spiritual gifts, and eschatology. Emphasising sound exegetical method and the movement from exegesis to sermon, the subject equips participants to interpret 1 Corinthians faithfully and to articulate its significance for Christian life and ministry.
