+ Frequently Asked Questions
What subjects should I start with?
Every student must begin with the foundation courses before proceeding to other subjects (âBible Overviewâ for PTC subjects, and âDynamics of Biblical Changeâ for CCEF subjects). Once completed, students can choose to take other subjects in any order.
What is the cost of the courses?
PTC subject: Each subject cost RM 160 (normal price) and RM 110 (concession rate). Concession rate is available for ministry workers, retirees, full-time students, and unemployed persons.
CCEF subject: The credit cost of a CCEF subject is about USD$650.00. Equip and CCEF are offering the courses to students living in Malaysia and Brunei for RM500 per subject.
Whatâs the duration of the courses?
PTC subject: There are four terms each year for the Equip Certificate in Theology courses, not all subjects are offered every term but at least one PTC level subject will be offered each term. Each term lasts for three months.
CCEF subject: There are three terms each year for CCEF, not all subjects are offered every term. If you want to know the available upcoming courses, please check them out here.
Where do I go for the classes?
For PTC subjects, students can choose to enrol in the following methods:
- attend on-site classes that are run in different host churches,
- take as self-study – Apart from the textbook, students have access to many online resources such as quizzes, worksheets, video and audio through our Online Learning Environment.
- attend online virtual courses via video conferencing software, or
- attend intensive classes that are held occasionally – the intensive classes are usually taught over two weekends, e.g. Friday 8pm-10pm, and Saturday 9am-4pm.
For CCEF subjects, the classes are available online only. The registered students will be given access to the online learning platform where they can access to watch the lectures, submit assignments, read articles, participate in a class community board, and communicate with the Recitation Instructor.
How do I register for the courses?

CCEF subjects – https://new.equip.org.my/ccef-registration/
Do I need to complete the whole course in a certain timeframe?
There is no required timeframe to complete. Students have the flexibility to complete according to their own capacity.
Can I apply for any financial aid / scholarships?
Equip offers some financial aid to those who are in need. However, students must take the initiative to first discuss with their church pastors for any possible sponsorship support from their own churches before reaching out to Equip.
What can I do with the Certificate in Biblical Counselling awarded by Equip?
The Certificate, Diploma & Advanced Diploma in Biblical Counselling will equip you for effective Pastoral care in the local church in a variety of pastoral situations. Such a person can be a resource others can look to caring for more difficult pastoral issues in the church.
Can I transfer credits from other institutions for this?
In most cases, no transfer of credit will be offered. However, you may apply for transfer of credit by filling out the âTransfer Credit Formâ available here.
Can I enrol to take PTC subjects and CCEF subjects at the same time?
If you are studying part-time, we would generally recommend students against taking two or more subjects at the same time. The average workload for a PTC subject is 5 hours per week. The average workload for a CCEF subject is 7 hours per week. PTC subjects do not require students to submit assignments but the CCEF subjects do have weekly assignments, readings, lectures, and exam, which can be quite intensive for students.
When will I receive my Certificate or Diploma?
Each year Equip will hold a Thanksgiving and Graduation Service (usually at the end of the year). If students have completed the requirements three months before the graduation, the certificate will then be presented at the graduation. However, this does not happen automatically. Students have to apply for the graduation if they would like to receive the certificate.Â
How do I apply to receive the Equip Certificate or Diploma upon completion?
The graduation application form is available here or you may write to ccef@equip.org.my to request.
Am I able to receive the CCEF Certificate of Completion as well?
Yes, on top of the Equip Certificate in Biblical Counselling, as a student of CCEF, you are still able to get the Certificate of completion awarded by CCEF.
